What is Kuuki Grooves?
Kuuki Grooves is the new music project started by Jota, connecting the dots between some of his biggest passions:
Music, vinyl records & Japan.
Not being Japanese, not having any Japanese roots, and not pretending to be a Japanese wannabe, the only objective is to share what I have learnt and enjoyed from Japan´s classy, deep, pure and stylish way of looking to music.
Kuuki grooves is live dj sessions, events, curated content, social media... and anything in the middle.
Enjoying the road, with no fixed destination.
Relax and enjoy.
What Kuuki means ( 空気 )?
In Japanese, Kuuki ( 空気 ) means to "read the air" and is key in social interaction, no matter if it is business, friends or love. It means to understand the signals that are "in the air" in any situation or conversation.
Socially, is expected from you that you can "read" the indirect messages, the non-written behavioural rules, the body language, the mood of the people, the general atmosphere...and to behave accordingly to socially keep the harmony of the situation.
Kuuki in music selection or dj-ing is mandatory. First passively, by reading and understanding the audience, the silent messages they send, the interest that the music is generating, the reactions that music is provoking; and then actively, by proposing inspiring grooves through the air that brighten audience´s mood while painting the air with sonic colors & textures, trying to make every social experience better and more enjoyable.
Music always paint our mood with colors & textures, even when the listener is not consciously listening. To build a story with it, that can inspire to others, is my main objective

It is very easy to remember what I always feel, turning right and right again from main street in Ginza, stopping by with the taxi, getting into the building right to the elevator and pushing the 4F button.
When the door will open, I will be entering this paradise of sound quality, great music, gorgeous cocktails and modern and classy atmosphere. Everything makes sense in GMB, everything is set up with precision to provide the perfect full experience if you like good and eclectic music and looking for a classy and inspiring spot.
Very obviously, if I am at Ginza Music Bar, it means I am in Tokyo, and inherently is always part of my experience and later memories. Not only the cocktails are memorable but the good thing is that always I learn about a new song, about a new band while enjoying the beauty of the place and the classy and modern atmosphere.
For me it is more than a must. There is no Tokyo without Ginza Music Bar.
